Software Template required... --RB 06:45, 6 Apr 2005 (EDT)

It'd be useful to get some feedback on whether the alias for changing ther TERM setting+running wyrd in MacOSX terminal i) works for everyone, and ii) is a good/wise way to do it. I'm no UNIX expert. The current form of the alias is:
alias wyrd='OLDTERM=$TERM;export TERM=xterm-color;wyrd;export TERM=$OLDTERM'
If your shell is bash, you can use:
alias wyrd='TERM="xterm-color" wyrd'
(Reference) That will execute wyrd with the TERM you want, and it will reset to its previous value after wyrd finishes. --JamesRifkin 12:06, 15 Jun 2005 (EDT)
Ouch! I should have tested that. The first thing I thought of worked, so I didn't bother looking into it any more. I'll test your version when I'm back on my Mac, and then update the page --MishaDunn 10:17, 17 Jun 2005 (EDT)
OK, that worked fine! I've fixed the main page. Thanks for the hint! --MishaDunn 16:20, 17 Jun 2005 (EDT)

iCal -> Palm integration

I have a Palm device and I like having my calendar items in the default Palm calendar (I use the Palm for a lot of different things and it's way way lighter than carrying all of things around in paper form so it's pretty much a required device right now). I really like Remind a lot and I would like to use it as my default desktop calendaring app instead of the way I'm currently using it (basically to remind me of birthdays and important deadlines but not as an all around calendar).

The problem is... how do I sync the Palm and Remind? I'm thinking of writing a script to take the pre-postscript calendar output of remind and turn it into an .ics file for iCal and then let the standard hotsync software handle the iCal -> Palm sync. This seems like an awful lot of hoop jumping though.

Anybody have any ideas?

I think the Remind page has accumulated enough cruft that some reorganization is required. My suggestion is that the Remind page should provide only a brief description of the software, and serve primarily as a place for links to the Remind FAQ, Remind Cookbook, Remind use cases, and similar pages.

Any thoughts about that? --Pelzlpj 17:26, 21 April 2006 (EDT)

I agree with the need to reorganize. But where would the extra material on the main page go? Doesn't naturally fit with the FAQ, Cookbook, or Use Case categories. Perhaps there needs to be an additional page with using remind with other programs.--PhilGeek

Some of the smaller bits have already been integrated into the FAQ. For the larger sections, I think that your suggestion is a good one. --Pelzlpj 17:36, 22 April 2006 (EDT)
