Humane Text

HumaneText is a Mac OS X Service that allows any compatible app to use Markdown-formatted text. The service can convert Markdown-formatted text to XHTML, and vice versa.

It seems to have small reliability issues, but on the whole is a massive time saver.

(While HumaneText.service No.4 could be hacked to work with Textile, No.5 can not. If you're interested in Textile markup via the Service menu, try Piper.service.)
