wikidPad is a Python-based Wiki application that runs on the desktop. It currently works on Windows, Linux and Mac. The primary platform is Windows and a Windows installation binary is supplied, but the fact that it's written in Python means it can run on multiple platforms (screenshot).

While not developed for GTD per se, wikidPad can be very useful for maintaining lists and storing reference information, particularly stuff that cross-links. Below are a couple of examples of using wikidPad with GTD.

This software is released as open source at http://www.wikidpad.org. There is a fairly active user discussion list to which people often post hacks & suggestions for using GTD with wikidPad.

An article on using wikidPad on multiple machines, synchronizing them via an FTP server is available at Wynia.org
