Hey there. Noticed you re-added VoodooPad into Category:Software. Just so you know why I hadn't put it in the software category - I've been moving stuff around software-wise so that is falls two sucategories of sofware - one based on its OS, one based on what it does. Just so you don't think I've been playing silly buggers with the Categories. Currently I don't have a definite plan on whether or not I should put them in software as well...see here.--Akchizar 00:11, 23 Mar 2005 (EST)

Yeah, I noticed that you were re-categorizing software. A lot of the software had no category at all so I was standardizing them. What you're doing works for me. I was going to change all the bare links to external sites to a wiki page for the software. I was thinking for each software package it might be nice to have somewhat of a template for the wiki page for that package, something like:
  • Description
  • Links
  • Testimonials

What I was thinking of doing along this line was have something like Meta:Software template which has the basics of what needs to be on a page. I'm thinking of a quick profile up the top (possibly one of those sidebars...gotta work out how to make them) with OS, cost, size, current version, followed by a quick synopsis of what it does, possibly a bit on what sets it apart from other programs of its type (although this is looking to get subjective, which I'm trying to avoid here), followed by a section on opinions where people can write what they think of it, and then followed by (or possibly a link to) a hacks section, which details useful things you can do (such as mail.appetizer for mail.app, or the comma feature in Quicksilver. Finally a links section down the bottom, with internal links to hacks or things that relate to the software and external links to the product's site, tutorials, and stuff. Then in the discussion section we can put basic details of how to do a writeup for software, what to put in, etc etc. Might start putting stuff up now - it'd be great if you could visit there and see how it all looks. --Akchizar 23:11, 24 Mar 2005 (EST)
