Talk:NewReleases
From 43FoldersWiki
Hmm. I dunno. I like the idea of a more fleshed out Hog Bay page, but I'm not crazy about "New Releases" as a section here. Am I alone in thinking press releases aren't a good idea as content here? As is, I'd lean toward voting for delete.
Also--assuming it's Jesse posting this--as I said in my email, it would be kosher for you to own the addition and disclose the relationship on your user page.
Thoughts from others?

Sorry--I missed the name at the bottom. But I'd still give a +1 for signing in and mentioning your relationship on your user page.

If I had a vote, I'd vote for not having this sort of stuff here. We could, y'now, use URLs? --RB 15:11, 26 Mar 2005 (EST)
My first response was also negative. After further consideration, I don't think sort of content is bad, but we need to decide on the appropriate place to put it. (Caveat: Jesse did a good job of making it appropriate for this site, that's why this one is acceptable.) I'd like to see it moved to User:Jesse_Grosjean/Hog Bay Notebook_3.5, and mention made under Current events, maybe. (To be refactored away when no longer appropriate.) --JamesRifkin 15:51, 26 Mar 2005 (EST)
(To clarify: I don't think it's bad, I think it's inappropriate. ) --RB 16:28, 26 Mar 2005 (EST)
Unless I'm mis-reading the info, it's a piece of software that should be covered by this Wiki and not really a current event-- well, maybe the release of the software is a current event (ala a press release) but ultimately it probably should have a permanent home in the software section. I think it's just the NewReleases page that gives it a press-releasey feel and I agree, seems a little inappropriate. Maybe move the whole thing into the right software category and then let it get further refactored/cleaned up organically from there? My 2c :-) --pnoeric 21:58, 26 Mar 2005 (EST)
Moved it. DELETEME. --JamesRifkin 11:43, 28 Mar 2005 (CST)
Sorry to step on toes. I missed a few features of this wiki. I'm used to simple wiki's where it's just text, I didn't know about user accounts until after creating the Hog Bay Notebook page, it's properly signed now. I looked at current events before posting, but that looked more like a (lets meet on this date kinda place) instead of a news place. Anyway maybe it's the case that new releases should be left to sites like version tracker and mac update.
