Talk:MyListScreensaver
From 43FoldersWiki
In theory, this should be pretty easy to do with Flash. There are already examples of RSS aggregators done in Flash, such as Philter's RSS News Portal. You can make screen savers of Flash movies with an app like ScreenTime. And plenty of online organizational tools provide RSS feeds of tasks, events, calendars, etc.
Any Flash gurus interested in banging this together?

[edit] Theory on changing focus
I've got one theory for you on how changing what you're doing could work to increase focus...I went to massage school last year and they used Dawna Markova's Perceptual Thinking Patterns as a tool. It's a theory of learning development somewhat related to NLP that links kinesthetic, visual, and verbal/audio processing/modes of learning with convergent (focused, problem-solving, beta brainwave), sorting (bridge between convergent&divergent, alpha-brainwave) and divergent (creative, floaty, spacy, theta-brainwave) modes of thinking. The idea is that we each have common patterns, so for example someone who links divergent thinking with audio processing will tend to space out during lectures or while listening to music (like me, from this blog post ) when there isn't much kinesthetic or visual input. So, when you change to listening to music, it could shift you into a more convergent mode of thinking. I've been way more effective at learning (and doing) ever since I learned about this, I dumped my desk chair for a large exercise ball and I have a much easier time staying focused. Hm. This might be worth a wiki article.
