[edit] Block Policy

Although the vast majority of contributors to 43FoldersWiki are good citizens, in some cases it may be necessary to block a user from making further contributions.

Users may be banned from contributing to 43FoldersWiki under the following circumstances:

[edit] Spamming or Vandalism

If a user has made multiple edits that are harmful to 43FoldersWiki, their account will be banned. Concurrently, a 48-hour ban may be placed on their IP address. A repeat violation from the same IP will result in a permanent ban.

  • One wrinkle that might need to be added here is a situation like User talk:Scxx where the "spamming" isn't exactly spamming, since it's taking place in the relatively obscure user talk area.

[edit] Disruptive users

If a user makes disruptive edits to multiple pages, that user may be banned at the administrators' discretion, either temporarily or indefinitely. At that time, the user must contact an admin to plead his case.

[edit] Offensive Username

If a user signs on the 43FoldersWiki with a username that is deemed offensive under the username policy, that username should be blocked. Note: The IP which the user is registered to should be unblocked in order to permit them to contribute under a more appropriate username.

[edit] Impersonation

If a user registers under a name designed to impersonate another member, they may be banned immediately, and the IP block may be left in place.

[edit] Personal attacks

If a user makes repeated personal attacks against other users (see no personal attacks) that user may be banned for 48 hours to enforce a "cooling off" period.

[edit] Circumventing policy

If a user attempts to circumvent policy, e.g. registering a sock puppet, that user may be banned at the administrators' discretion, either temporarily or permanently.
