[Rob, 43folders is mac-centric, so I thought the "contrary to popular belief" was in the wrong spirit, slight edit.  :) --Todd Dailey 03:42, 24 Mar 2005 (EST)

LOL -- I was trying to appeal to our unfortunate brethern Windows users with some humor. ;D But you're right, sounds good as edited. --RobertDaeley 11:52, 24 Mar 2005 (EST)

DEVONthink is mentioned – but what about DEVONagent (marvellous software!), where should we put it? --Jørgen Holm 07:26, 25 Mar 2005 (EST)

Any Tinderbox users out there who can give more opinion? --RB 05:03, 29 Mar 2005 (EST)

[edit] Redundancy?

It seems to me that this page and Category:Software need to be integrated/cross-referenced more. The categories that software is divided into and whats been put into which category are pretty different. It seems a little strange to have the information in two places like this. Maybe what really needs to happen is just have appropriate categories added to more pages for software. Its a big job, and I didn't want to undertake it without some opinions first. --Duien

One of my long-term goals is to make this page go away by improving the category pages (Category:Macintosh Software, Category:Notebook Software, et al) enough to make it irrelevant. --JamesRifkin 17:00, 7 Apr 2005 (EDT)
After looking at this page a little more, I realized that one thing that's probably a barrier is that a lot of the software doesn't have a page, just a link, and therefore can't be put into the category system. Any ideas on how to handle that? Creating a page for each seems a little excessive if people don't have anything to say. --Duien 23:59, 7 Apr 2005 (EDT)
What about going ahead and creating those missing pages, but make them redirect to the external site? That would enable the category thing to work. --RobertDaeley 00:09, 8 Apr 2005 (EDT)
Now, I may have taken the Short Bus to the wiki today, but I cannot get redirects to point to external site. (Other than interwiki). What am I missing? --JamesRifkin 16:12, 14 Apr 2005 (EDT)
I could have sworn there was an external link redirect, but googling produces nothing to that effect. Bummer. Well, as far as the original question, failing an external redirect -- if we're going to use categories it makes some sense to add a page per software title (though where does that stop? This isn't MacUpdate). I see no real problem with just the link as long as it makes sense to be on this wiki and if we make some sort of effort to inform people that filling in the blanks would be really nice. :) The alternative is to DELETEME every url stub. --RobertDaeley 21:07, 14 Apr 2005 (EDT)

I don't know. I don't like the idea of a dozen one-line pages. I don't wanna just wash away everything. Howzabout: We keep the list of relevant one-liners on Category: pages, and tell people to make a new page when they have something to say about a book. I'll start pushing things that way. Tell me what y'all think. --JamesRifkin 22:02, 14 Apr 2005 (EDT)
