Talk:Laundry

With regard to laundry efficiency, I'm wondering about others' habits: how often do you do laundry - once a week, once a day? How do your family size, hobbies (working out, for example), and habits affect this? How often do you change/wash bedsheets? Do you re-use towels (why or why not)? Do you stuff your washer FULL or leave room to oscillate? Do you bother to sort colors? Do you follow all the washing instructions on your clothes? What about energy/water efficiency (i.e., line drying to save energy, tips to save water)? Any tricks here? (I am addicted to Lifehacks... can you tell?) --steph
steph, the laundry chapter of Home Comforts is totally bitchin for all of those issues. For my part, I favour doing laundry once a week and having enough towels/underwear/etc to get through a whole week. In my 2-person household, we sort our own laundry items on the way into the hamper. We only really have 3 levels: "hot water and the dryer", "cold water and line dry" and "handwash/special instructions", so a hamper, the floor beside it, and a mesh bag are a solid system. --Ookpik 18:43, 17 Aug 2005 (EDT)
Thanks - that looks like a good suggestion. I'll pick up a copy. For anyone who wants to take a look, I found it here (you can browse the very thorough TOC): Amazon: Home Comforts --steph
