Recipe*zaar
From 43FoldersWiki
Recipe*zaar is social networking for anyone who cooks; or would like to cook more often and more efficiently. The free membership allows you to build a personal cookbook, view cookbooks others have built, search and import recipes to your cookbook, or add your own favorites to the Recipe*zaar database. You can also go to their forums to request a lost recipe from others, or to ask about cooking techniques, or special diets.
The advanced search engine makes it easy to find recipes; recipes are rated on a five-star scale, so you can choose a recipe others have adored, or try out a recently added recipe then add your own review. You can add recipes to the community cookbook, and allow others to try and rate your recipes.
The best hack provided by this web service is the ability to select recipes for your next shopping trip, adjust the serving size of recipes to fit your needs, and then generate a shopping list of ingredients. Work from home? Your spouse/partner can access your shopping list at work and pick up groceries on their way home. (Now THAT's a life hack - delegate!)
An upgraded membership costs less than a good cookbook, $20 annually, and allows you greater flexibility in building your cookbook and organizing your recipes, plus the ability to edit shopping lists to include items not in the recipes you selected and non-food items. With an upgraded membership you can separate your saved recipes into different cookbooks, such as "Thanksgiving", "Non-dairy"(for when your dairy-sensitive SIL is visiting), "Untried Recipes", "Tried and True Recipes", ect. Upgraded members also get the benefit of an ad-free site.
My kids have suffered ever since their mom morphed into a geek - with Recipe*zaar planning and shopping for a week's worth of groceries is a breeze! Coordinating shopping lists when you have two chefs in the family is also a breeze!
My husband and I decided to pay for a a membership, it's well worth the $20; building our collection of cookbooks and try out new recipes on each other has become a family project.
Recipe*zaar was created by a couple of ex-Microsoft Corp Engineers - and is headquartered in Washington State, USA.
