  • In the event your notebook is lost, affix a mailing label and sufficient postage to an index card by removable tape. Ask the finder to kindly write something within, and to drop the notebook into a mailbox. Offering a reward is good incentive.   • Perhaps its Murphy's Law at work, but I have actually never lost a notebook that had my name, phone number and email address on the first page. It is those other ones, the unmarked and unreturnable notebooks, that I routinely misplace.
  • Do write down your address and promise (an original) reward.
  • If you have a bookplate that goes into your hardback books, it can make a convenient and attractive alternative to filling in the "In case of loss, please return to" section inside the front cover.
