Interesting: there's a wide range of marked-up text, all the way from - well - plain un-marked-up text to atx, setext, Markdown... then (I would argue) on to specialised markups like TeX. you have to know what you're doing. then the heavyweight stuff you'd not really want to write out without mechanical assistance.
So there's some markup that (IMHO) ends up being 'write-only'. HTML and XHTML has great tags for lists, quoting and citation, but it's going to get messy once you start editing. Some people manage it. I just want to have as little as possible between me and the text. --RB 17:00, 24 Mar 2005 (EST)
